August 9, 2020 Tenth Sunday After Pentecost

Hi Everyone,

On this beautiful Sunday, we’re looking at the Psalms and the things they tell us about God. The mobile craft has another piece and this week the longer strings will all be filled! Don’t worry if you have missed a week of haven’t started our summer craft yet because there are links below to show how to make the frame and the earlier crafts.

Again this week, I’ve also included a word search that has some of the words from this week’s psalm. How many of the words do you usually think of when we talk about peace?

At the bottom is a link to last week’s Children’s Worship Page and a link to more activities which our storytellers and doorkeepers have offered as ways to help in these long days.

Take Care and Stay Well,

Rev. Peter

This week we’re looking at Psalm 85:8-13

and our highlighted verse is verse 85:8

Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for God will speak peace to the people, to the faithful, to those who turn to God in their hearts.

This week we’re adding another part to our mobile that represents ways that God responds to us and the ways that we respond to God.  Each of the pieces of the mobile reminds us of a Psalm we’ve talked about this summer.  By September you will have a very special creation to hang in your house, or to give to someone you love, to help us all think on our relationship with God.

Constructing the Mobile

Our Eighth Craft for the Mobile: God Gives Us Peace

This week, take some time to think about, and feel, the peace that God gives to you in your heart and in your mind. This peace is reassuring and comforting.
To remind you of the peace that God gives to you, create a tape resistant peace symbol. Start by cutting out a circle of card stock or cardboard. With tape (painters tape works best but scotch tape also does the trick), make a peace symbol in the circle. Next, paint the exposed parts of the circle. Once the paint has dried carefully remove the tape and reveal the peace symbol. Now, attach your peace symbol to the final long string of your mobile and reflect on all of the awesome ways that God responds to us.
