November 22, 2020 – Reign of Christ Sunday

Call to Worship (responsive from 1 Chronicles 16:31)
Let the heavens be glad,
and let the earth rejoice;
And let them say among the nations,
“The Lord reigns.”

Prayer of Approach (together)
Eternal God, in Jesus you call us
to know your forgiveness and grace.
Open our hearts that we might experience your love
and better understand the way you call us to live
as followers of Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, Amen.

Shout to God, all the earth
worship with gladness and love.
Come before God with laughter,
our maker to whom we belong.
To the Shepherd who tends us like sheep,
let us raise our voices in praise.
Come to God’s gates with thanks,
come to God’s courts with praise.
Praise and bless Gods name
“Truly you are good:
you are always gracious,
and faithful age after age.” R

A warm welcome to everyone who is joining us for worship. May this
be a time for you to draw closer to God. The services online will be
posted each week on our website and through social media.

There is limited seating available for the inperson worship because of
the social distancing requirements. If you are planning to attend for the
first time since reopening please call the office 902-863-2001 and let us
know that you plan to attend on Sunday morning .

The Men’s Club wish to thank the members of the congregation and
community for their positive response to our sale of the Lobster Packs.
However as of Thursday we still have fourteen (14) 2 lb. packs available.
I am suggesting that some of you may know friends or neighbors who
might be interested in purchasing one or more packs. If so, have them
call Bob Murray at 863-3179 to arrange to have them picked up.

Connections – It’s time for the St. James United family to think about
the Christmas edition of Connections. So much has changed, yet our
spirit and connectedness to the church remains strong. If you are
uncertain about whether or not your idea would be appropriate for the
newsletter, why not give me (Brenda Rose) a call at 867-1587 or drop me
an email at I’d love to hear from you.

Please note that 25 November is the United Nations’ International Day
for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Violence against
women and girls (VAWG) is one of the most widespread, persistent and
devastating human rights violations in our world today. Yet it remains
largely unreported due to the impunity, silence, stigma and shame
surrounding it. What does it look like? Intimate partner violence; sexual
violence and harassment: human trafficking: female genital mutilation;
and child marriage. Get informed and advocate against these shameful

Truth & Reconciliation – Call #58 Church Apologies and
Reconciliation – We call upon the Pope to issue an apology to survivors,
their families, and communities for the Roman Catholic Church’s role in
the spiritual, cultural, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of First
Nations, Inuit, and Métis children in Catholic-run residential schools.

When someone calls and we reconnect,
it brings back so much and might make new paths ahead.
