May 24, 2020 Ascension Sunday

Hi Everyone,

This Sunday we hear the story of Jesus returning to heaven and leaving the disciples to be witnesses to the good news of God. In the video, I talk a bit about what it means to be a witness and why it is important to be faithful as we tell about Jesus.

Then there is a craft suggestion based on our readings from Bronwen including a pictures of a finished craft. What a great way to remember and give thanks to God!

The link for the Pentecost Challenge which I mention again this week in the video is next. The deadline is this Friday so they can be included in the video for next Sunday!

Last but not least, I have included a link to a package of material from Children’s Illustrated Ministry which they are making available to us free of charge until Pentecost. This week there are some things to colour about the ascension and a word search.

At the bottom is a link to last week’s Children’s Worship Page and a link to more activities which our storytellers and doorkeepers have offered as ways to help in these long days.

Take Care and Stay Well,

Rev. Peter

I Wonder Questions:
I wonder what the disciples saw when they were with Jesus?

I wonder if you have ever had someone tell you something you found hard to believe?

I wonder if someone has ever not believed you when you told them something important?

I wonder how we can be good witnesses to Jesus?

Using the words from Psalm 47, “Sing praises to God, sing praises.  Sing praises to our King, sing praises”, think about making a collage that celebrates God’s creation. Our collage is about flowers but you might like to make a picture about birds, or make a collage with pictures of people you love. Or perhaps you can find treasures at the beach to assemble into a collage.

Pentecost is coming!

Next week, the church tells the story of the arrival of the Holy Spirit and the start of the church. You can click on the link below and see the Pentecost picture to colour. Take a picture of your artwork and send it to me (minister@stjamesuc.com) by Friday May 29th and I’ll include it in our Children’s worship video for May 31st.

Don’t have the printer? Let me know and I’ll mail you the sheets or you can create your own drawing or artwork on the Pentecost story and take a picture of that for our video.

Young in age and young at heart and everyone in the church is welcome to send along your Pentecost pictures as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit and the start of the church.

This week our colouring pages and word search help us remember the story of the Ascension and the promise Jesus makes that the Holy Spirit would come to the disciples at Pentecost.
