On 26 June, please note the United Nations’ International Day in Support of Victims of Torture – an annual observance to speak out against the crime of torture, and to honour and support victims and survivors throughout the world. Torture aims to destroy the victim’s personality and negates the intrinsic dignity of the human being. Although international law absolutely prohibits torture, sadly, it continues to occur around the world.
