Today is World Migratory Bird Day. This year’s theme “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter”, highlights the role of public participation in collecting data on bird populations, their habitats and the factors that impact them. Citizen science, ranging from Project Feeder Watch, to the Christmas Bird Count, provides information on species distribution, abundance trends, migration timing and breeding success. This data is important to identify conservation priorities, and inform effective conservation action plans and strategies. The 14th is Moose Hide Campaign Day, a day of ceremony where we join together to take a stand against violence towards women, children and those along the gender continuum, and to take practical steps for our collective journey of reconciliation. And the 15th is the International Day of Families. Celebrate with your loved ones!
