The Social Justice Committee invites you to follow the proceedings of the COP 27 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6 -18. This already somewhat controversial conference will cover multiple topics. Will there be concrete achievements this time around? Check it out at https://unfccc.int/cop27. And note that 11 November is Remembrance Day. Please honour those who gave their lives to serve our country and wear your poppy with pride!

Did you know? PAR (Pre Authorized Remittance) is as easy to start as one-two-three. 1) Ask to sign up at the church office. 2)Fill in the amount you want to give each month. 3) Know that each month your gift goes to help the church do God’s work here in Antigonish and around the world! If you are interested in PAR speak to Pamela Cunningham or drop by the church office.

A group of professors and others are working with Linda Darwish to bring a young Afghan woman to Canada under the expedited stream for Afghan refugees. The woman is a cousin of Linda’s former student. Her situation is dire. We are required to raise half of the $17,000 sponsorship amount in order to submit the application to the government, which will be done under the SAFE sponsorship holder agreement. If you would like to donate, you may do so by e-transferring funds directly to the following bank account that has been set up specifically for this purpose: 2022CAWE@gmail.com. If needed, the name of the account is: Canadian-Afghani Women Embrace. Unfortunately, we are not able to issue tax receipts because the money is for the support of a specific person. Please talk to Linda if you have any questions- you can call or email her at 514-655-5806 / ldarwish@stfx.ca.

In an effort to make our church as welcoming as possible to those people who may join us, please help in making our sanctuary scent free by avoiding perfumes and scented products when getting ready for church.
